Terms of service
Effective and last updated: 30 July 2026.
1. Agreement
Using CrawlPact means you agree to these terms.
2. Operator
CrawlPact operates the CrawlPact service.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must be able to enter into this agreement, and must have authority to use any account information you submit. CrawlPact does not verify legal ownership of a domain you submit for audit — see "Acceptable use" below for the actual scope of permitted use.
4. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- The security of your passkey credentials, any recovery codes, and, if you use it, your connected Google account
- Activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying CrawlPact promptly if you suspect your account has been compromised
5. The service
CrawlPact audits and monitors the publicly declared AI crawler policy of a website you specify: saved domains, scheduled monitoring, findings, evidence-based recommendations, crawler-registry versions, and reporting, with paid-plan limits as described on pricing. CrawlPact evaluates and reports on declared policy and observed public responses; it does not prove or guarantee that any crawler will obey that policy.
6. Product boundaries
- CrawlPact audits public policy signals.
- CrawlPact does not control external crawlers.
- CrawlPact does not guarantee crawler compliance, search inclusion, or training exclusion.
- CrawlPact is not legal advice and is not a legal compliance certification.
- CrawlPact does not replace a WAF, CDN, or bot-management service.
- Results may change when a website's declared policy or the crawler registry changes.
- Public resources CrawlPact depends on may be unavailable or incomplete at scan time.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use CrawlPact to:
- Break the law, or use the service for an unlawful purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt CrawlPact's infrastructure
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or automate high-volume use without approval
- Attempt security testing of CrawlPact's own systems without authorisation — see security
- Submit a target for the purpose of probing or attacking internal infrastructure
- Misrepresent an audit result as a guarantee of crawler compliance
- Resell or white-label CrawlPact contrary to your plan's terms
- Engage in fraudulent billing behaviour
8. User-submitted domains and public resources
The free audit is designed to let you analyse any public domain, and CrawlPact does not verify domain ownership before running one. You are responsible for using CrawlPact lawfully and responsibly, and must not use it to harass, probe, or attack a website you do not operate.
9. Crawler registry and methodology
- Registry information is evidence-based but can change as operator documentation changes.
- Crawler-purpose classifications may contain uncertainty, and are labelled honestly rather than guessed.
- Reports identify the registry version they were evaluated against, where supported.
- Corrections may be submitted to support@crawlpact.com — see how corrections are reviewed.
10. Recommendations and decisions
You remain responsible for your own policy objectives, website configuration, legal decisions, business decisions, implementation, and monitoring responses. CrawlPact's recommendations are not guaranteed outcomes.
11. Paid plans and billing
Paid plans are billed annually through Paddle, acting as merchant of record. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record for applicable transactions. Paddle handles payment collection, tax calculation, receipts, renewal, and cancellation. CrawlPact does not store your payment-card details, though it does retain billing metadata (a Paddle customer/subscription identifier, transaction status, and amounts) necessary for entitlements, support, and accounting.
Subscriptions are cancelled through Paddle's customer portal, linked from your account's billing settings. When a subscription's Paddle status changes to cancelled, expired, or paused, your account moves to the Free plan. Plan limits and upgrade/downgrade behaviour are described on pricing. A failed payment does not immediately end access — Paddle retries payment during a grace period, during which your plan remains active.
12. Refunds
CrawlPact does not independently issue refunds; refund and chargeback decisions are handled by Paddle as merchant of record. For a refund enquiry, contact support@crawlpact.com.
13. Intellectual property
CrawlPact's software, brand, documentation, methodology, and crawler-registry compilation are owned by CrawlPact. CrawlPact does not claim ownership over third-party crawler-operator documentation or the content of websites you audit.
14. Feedback
If you send CrawlPact feedback or suggestions, CrawlPact may use them to improve the service without owing you compensation, but this does not affect any separate rights you have in your own account data or audited website content.
15. Third-party services
CrawlPact relies on Cloudflare for infrastructure and Paddle for billing. Their own terms apply to their respective services.
16. Availability and changes
The service may change — features may be added, modified, or discontinued, and maintenance or incidents may occur. Current operational status is available on the status page. CrawlPact does not promise uninterrupted availability.
17. Suspension and termination
CrawlPact may suspend or terminate access on reasonable grounds, including abuse, non-payment, a security risk, a legal requirement, or a violation of these terms.
18. Disclaimers
CrawlPact is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes a right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CrawlPact's liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid CrawlPact in the twelve months before the claim arose. This section does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
20. No guarantee of outcome
CrawlPact does not guarantee that any AI crawler will honour a declared policy, that content will or will not appear in an AI system's output, or any specific search or AI visibility outcome.
21. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the product develops. Material changes are reflected on this page with a new "effective and last updated" date above.
