What this checks

  • Retrieves /.well-known/rsl.xml and parses it against the RSL 1.0 specification (published December 2025, governed by the RSL Technical Steering Committee — an industry consortium, not a standards body).
  • Shows declared permitted and prohibited uses, and any stated payment terms.
  • Flags a missing file as informational, not as an error.

What this does not check

RSL is a machine-readable declaration, not technical enforcement — no crawler is required to read or respect it. This also does not check whether the declaration agrees with the domain's robots.txt or Content Signals; see the comparison guide below and limitations.
